Lavalin Chile is a subsidiary of the Canadian firm, globally the firm faces a complex financial situation, which has put at risk its investment grade. Subsequently, a contract of US $ 260 million was conferred to build two acid plants in the Chuquicamata smelter of Codelco.

The legal action against SNC-Lavalin was presented by Tecnocys, in which it affirmed non-compliance with the payments established in the contract for the construction of the sulfuric acid plants for the Chuquicamata Foundry.

“There is a green light to move forward with the forced liquidation process, which includes the appointment of the liquidator, the seizure of the assets and all the actions that a bankruptcy process entails,” explained the plaintiff lawyer Luis Gálvez.

In this way, the company denounced expressly stated that the alleged executive title that was challenged before that court can be refuted at a later stage, that is, precisely in the liquidation trial. All this sharpened the situation of SNC Lavalin Chile, leading to noncompliance with the payments that ended the legal action.
