With sensors and mobile applications, construction machinery advances...
Digital and telematics digital machine management solutions are clearly on their way to becoming the new standard in the construction industry. The crane manufacturer Manitowoc, based in Milwaukee (USA), showed in bauma how a smartphone application can make daily work easier for its users. The company developed a free application that helps the crane operator interpret the diagnostic codes generated by the on-board control system and displayed in the cabin. Instead of waiting for specialized technical personnel, the crane owner can use the information to begin solving the problem immediately, which improves the operating time. The machines are identified by a QR code and examined using individual checklists on the smartphone. Users and landlords can digitally document damages and defects in images and texts. In addition, a general description of the fleet allows landlords to immediately see which machines are available, rented or in maintenance. Use sensors to differ...
